Tips To Keep Your Home Safe While You're On Vacation...

- Write up an itinerary -be sure to include phone numbers- where you can be reached and give them to someone you trust (like Best Friend Errand Service).

- Leave a house key- just in case they need to get in the house for you.

- If you are not taking the car, leave them a car key too. If you don't park in a garage, purchase a safety device to lock your steering wheel while you are away.

-Arrange with the post office to hold mail deliveries. They have forms you can fill out telling them when to stop deliveries and when to begin them again.

- Call Best Friend Errand Service to check on your home while you are gone

-If you have newspapers delivered to your home, make sure you call the newspaper and arrange for no deliveries on the days you are gone. Old newspapers, piled up outside of your home, are a sure sign no one is home.

-One alternative to the mail and newspaper delivery, is to have someone come over daily and bring in the mail and newspapers.

Best Friend Errand Service  Knows How To Help!

Best Friend Errand Service is as sweet as cake and ice cream...

Our customer was treated to a Reds game by her customer and she wanted to show her appreciation in a unique way so she called us.  We picked up 5 pints of Graeters Ice Cream with bowls and spoons and delivered them to her customer for a late afternoon surprise.  The Reds, Graeter's and Best Friend Errand Service..some of Cincinnati's Best!

Our customer is planning her son's Bar Mitzvah for later this summer.  She needed a cake but she knew it would have to have a specific theme that involved a logo and it would also have to be transported to Indiana for the event.  We were able to confirm the logo could be used and the cake would meet all the necessary requirements for this very special day.  Mazel Tov!!

Meet One of Our Best Friends
Meg Savage
Meg Savage

Meg Savage has spent more than twenty years in retail management with stores like TJ Maxx, The Great Indoors, Frontgate and West Elm.  Now she has taken that wealth of knowledge and teamed it with her skills as an Outdoor Stylist to create All Decked Out Designs, LLC.    Her eye for style and color can turn your backyard from drab to fab using many of the pieces you already have.

When she is not decorating she enjoys riding horseback on a beautiful Tennessee Walker named "Sassy" or working out at the Cincinnati Sports Mall.

Meg lives in the Hyde Park area on Grace Ave. where her street recently had the annual "Christmas in July" competition. The neighbors compete with outdoor decorations for either The Clark Griswald or Martha Stewart Award- she was hoping to be the next Martha!   Call Meg to find out how she did!

Great Recipes for Busy People

Pineapple Sirloin Skewers
Pineapple Sirloin Skewers

INGREDIENTS:

1 (8 ounce) can pineapple chunks
6 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 pound boneless beef sirloin steak, cut into 1 inch cubes

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Drain pineapple, reserving juice. Refrigerate the pineapple.  Combine the pineapple juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, oil, ginger, garlic and pepper. Reserve 1/3 cup marinade for basting and 1/3 cup for serving; cover and refrigerate.
  2. Pour the remaining marinade into a large resealable plastic bag; add beef cubes. Seal bag and turn to coat; refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight.
  3. Drain and discard marinade from beef. On metal or soaked wooden skewers, alternately thread beef and pineapple chunks. Grill, uncovered, over medium heat for 5 minutes on each side or broil 4-6 in. from the heat until beef reaches desired doneness, basting frequently with one portion of reserved marinade. Serve with remaining marinade.
